๐Ÿšจ ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Euro area economy grows 0.4% in Q3 against 0.2% expected, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Italian inflation jumps to 5.6%

  • ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Euro area GDP rose 0.4% on the quarter in the Q3 flash, double the 0.2% expected, after 0.6% in Q2; the annual rate was 1.3% against 1.1% forecast (Eurostat, newswires, )
  • ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Italy's EU-harmonised inflation surged to 5.6% on the year in the October flash, a full point above the 4.6% expected and up from 4.2%, with prices up 1.2% on the month against 0.5% forecast (Istat, newswires, )

FO view: A stronger bloc and an Italian price spike on top of hotter French inflation strengthen the case for a December ECB hike, outweighing the softer German state prices from an hour ago and fitting the theme that the energy shock is feeding.
